Blackcurrant are easy to grow, they produce juicy fruits that are rich in Vitamin C and their flowers can work as pollinators.
They can be grown in light shade but they prefer a sunny sheltered position, with a well watered soil. They are generally grown in bushes, so they don't perform well in containers. They require pruning in autumn and winter. During the growing season they need to be kept weed-free and, when fruits start to mature, plants need to be covered by a net to protect from birds.
