Wolves Lane Centre N22 5JD is running it's 2nd round of accredited City and Guilds Level 1 Horticulture courses, led by the incredible Sandra Salazar D'eca. This course will take you through essentials of working through the entire year, with a focus on Autumn and pre-Winter preparations. The course will begin 24th September, and take you on a 9 week journey through the ins and outs of practical horticulture skills, guided by Sandra's passion for land connection, food sovereignty and decolonisation. Students will come out of the course understanding the basics of soil science –soil types, structure, pH and nutrients, organic matter and using it to improve soil, making compost and other fertility products, getting the best out of your soil, basic cultivation techniques; and planting considerations including the needs of different food crops, sowing seeds all year round and basic sowing techniques to support successful propagation, and a hopefully a renewed connection and awe for the land we work and play with.
